Youth First Training offers in- person trainings for group leaders, recreation specialists and program coordinators. Trainings can be customized for agency needs or you can choose from our training menu.
Trainers
Lorraine Lubicich, M.A., CTRS has been a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for 30 years having worked in adolescent psych settings and for the NYC Police Athletic League as a director of Adventure Based Learning and a Director of Training. Currently she is an Assistant Professor teaching Therapeutic Recreation at St. Joseph’s University on Long Island. Youth First Training was established in 2022 to provide quality training to youth organizations.
Kristin Youngberg, M.S General and Special Education, a Corporate America career changer with over ten years working in various capacities of Special Education including Early Intervention, SEIT/SETSS, and Home Instruction. Her passion is helping struggling readers of all ages utilizing her extensive training in the Orton Gillingham approach to literacy. She brings her corporate and educational experience to each training session to connect with individuals across a broad range of backgrounds.
Soné Keith is a youth development professional and educator with over 10 years of experience supporting young people in reaching their academic, personal, and career goals. She now serves as a Transitional Coordinator at YouthBuild, guiding young adults as they navigate pathways into employment, higher education, and training opportunities. Soné brings a creative, compassionate, and student-centered approach to her work and is deeply committed to creating spaces where young people of all ages feel seen, supported, and empowered to build futures they are proud of.
Kathy Sweeney, M.S. in Special Education/Early Education. Kathy is an experienced special education teacher with over 30 years in the field. She is dedicated to supporting the growth and success of all learners. Previously, she owned and directed Drama Kids in Northern Nassau, where she blended her love for the arts with her commitment to child development. Her background brings creativity and inclusivity to every learning environment.
Bridget Stewart, Bridget is a dedicated special education teacher currently working in a UPK setting. With over 10 years of experience supporting individuals with special needs, she has worked in school, camp, and in-home environments. Her passion lies in creating inclusive, supportive spaces where all children can thrive and reach their full potential.
Jessica Nolan, a dedicated special education teacher with six years of experience in the New York City Department of Education and over 14 years of supporting individuals with special needs. She is a proud wife and mother of two, passionate about helping every child thrive and reach their full potential.
Johnathon Bland, a seasoned Recreation Specialist with 27 years of experience designing and leading engaging programs that promote wellness, teamwork, and community involvement. A skilled trainer, he brings a deep understanding of recreational planning and staff development, consistently mentoring others to deliver high-quality experiences across diverse populations.
